Show HN: Yangming Mind OS – turning Chinese philosophy into practical decision and reflection tools

Text

I built an open bilingual Markdown project around a narrow question: how can an idea become an observable action without turning philosophy into motivational quotes?

Yangming Mind OS adapts selected ideas from Wang Yangming (1472–1529) into worksheets for decisions, procrastination, emotional events, workplace conflict, relationships, daily reflection, and 30-day practice. Its loop is Know → Align → Act → Reflect. That loop is project-authored, not a historical quotation.

The repository explicitly separates historical text, modern interpretation, and application guidance. It works on GitHub, in any Markdown editor, or as an Obsidian vault. A VitePress site adds local search without duplicating the source.

I would value feedback on two things: can a newcomer complete the first exercise in three minutes, and are the source/translation boundaries clear enough?

Title

I made an open bilingual Markdown toolkit for decisions, reflection, and turning knowledge into action

Body

Yangming Mind OS is an open-source experiment inspired by Wang Yangming's philosophy. It is not a quote archive and does not assume prior knowledge of Chinese philosophy.

You start with a real situation, separate facts from interpretation, check whether anxiety/status/comparison/fear is narrowing the decision, choose a small action that produces evidence, and review the result. The repository includes copy-ready worksheets and filled cases.

I have tried to make the historical boundary explicit: direct quotations need locations; explanatory translations are labeled; the modern action loop is not attributed to Wang Yangming.

Everything is plain Markdown and can be opened as an Obsidian vault. I would appreciate practical feedback after trying the 3-minute start—not star trades or promotion exchanges.

Open bilingual tools for clearer decisions and action

Short description

Turn selected ideas from Wang Yangming into copy-ready Markdown worksheets for decisions, procrastination, emotional awareness, workplace conflict, relationships, and reflection.

Maker comment

I built Yangming Mind OS because collecting ideas is easier than changing behavior. The project begins with a real situation and ends with an observable action, evidence, and a review time. It stays portable—plain Markdown first, Obsidian optional—and keeps historical quotations separate from modern interpretation and project-authored tools.

The first-use test is intentionally small: can someone reach a useful next step in three minutes? I would value feedback on that flow, natural English, and source clarity.

  1. A 30-second overview of the system.
  2. The Know → Align → Act → Reflect loop.
  3. A filled daily-reflection example.
  4. Decision and emotion-event worksheets.
  5. The bilingual documentation map.

First comment questions

  • Which real situation should the next worksheet cover?
  • Where does the English explanation assume too much prior knowledge?
  • Is the historical/application boundary visible enough?
